A simple skincare routine is basically-

1.Cleanser

2.Toner

3.Serum/moisturizer

4.Sunscreen

These are the basic skincare routine which at least everyone should do. Simple skincare should be started from the teenage time period. It can be around the age of 15. But the saying is also important —“ Better late than never”.

But before you add any product to your skincare process, you definitely should know about your skin type. Everyone’s skin acts differently. So don’t use any product just after hearing that anyone else is also using it when you don’t know about your skin type properly.

1.Use a Cleanser daily

After waking up from the bed and before going to sleep you always should clean your face with a gentle cleanser according to your skin type.

What ingredients should be in the Cleanser according to skin type:

  • Dry skin: Glycerin or Ceramides (basically lipids or fat), Oil/hydrating cleanser.
  • Oily skin: Retinol or salicylic acid, vitamin C(new users should use the lower density of Vitamin C included), Gel/purifying foam cleanser
  • Normal skin: Generally these types of skin does well with gel/hydrating/midly foaming cleanser.
  • Combination skin: Foaming cleanser.

3. Toner

Toner removes leftover germs, dirt, and makeup on your face after washing. Mainly toner completes the cleansing process of your skin. It can give your skin a major positive appearance if you use it regularly and gives the tightness of the pores. It can be used in the morning and evening. But don’t overuse it, it may cause some irritation to your skin.

What ingredients should be in the toner according to skin type:

  • Dry skin: Glycerin and avoid toners that contain alcohol.
  • Oily skin: Bentonite clay
  • Normal skin: Hyaluronic acid
  • Combination skin: Alcohol-free toner.

3.Use a Serum

Using a serum regularly can give your skin a smoother texture and helps to penetrate the ingredients into your skin. The serum gives your skin a healthier and fresher appearance.

Face serum contains vitamin C, E, A, and topical antioxidants. Serum protects your skin from future damage, improves wrinkles and fine lines, and also feels light on your skin.

What ingredients should be in the Serum according to skin type:

  • Dry skin: Hydrating face serums with rich moisturizers that contain hyaluronic acid.
  • Oily skin: Vitamin C, Salicylic Acid, glycerin, hyaluronic acid. And try to avoid oil-based heavy serum.
  • Normal skin: Hyaluronic acid.
  • Combination skin: Hyaluronic acid.

Should I use Serum and Moisturizer both?

Moisturizer simply improves your skin’s moisture level. If you have super dry skin then you can use a moisturizer after using a serum. Moisturizer helps to lock the ingredients of serum into your skin. They both will make your skin more alive. But if your skin feels happy alone with serum, you can avoid using moisturizer.

4.Sunscreen

You must use sunscreen on your morning skincare routine to prevent your skin from UV damage or sunburn. UV damage may cause dark spots, wrinkles, and skin cancer also. Make sure your sunscreen has at least SPF 30 on it. Use sunscreen every single day if you have to go out.
